Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs)
GLP-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 RAs, are a class of medications used primarily in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, although they are also used in some cases for obesity management. They mimic the action of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), a hormone produced in the intestines in response to food intake. GLP-1 plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism and appetite regulation.
